Energy efficient appliances and lighting.
A range of integrated and freestanding appliances is offered, with an emphasis on A-rated (and A+/A++ where available), high quality models.
Kitchen appliances use as much as 45% of domestic electricity consumption (and 15% of total UK electricity consumption) making a significant contribution to global warming with fridges and freezers being the largest contributors. Eco labeling introduced in the UK in 1995 has helped to improve the overall efficiency of appliances with an increase in the availability of A-rated appliances.
Special attention should be made to the estimated kWh/year for each model as a large A+ fridge will consume more energy than a small B-rated fridge. Hobs are not as yet included in the Eco labeling scheme but magnetic induction hobs are 74% efficient compared to 47% efficiency for ceramic hobs and 43% efficiency for gas hobs.
Low energy downlighters can be incorporated underneath wall cabinets.
Eco Interiors offers a free energy monitoring device with every kitchen sale.
